This was my first time shopping at Ashley furniture Burlington. The entire experience starting with the wonderful sales person Heba to the great delivery team who delivered, assembled and removed all the packaging. Everyone was friendly and professional. I will definitely shop there again.
I am expressing my dissatisfaction with the way my wife and I were treated during our visit today to your Burlington location by a salesperson who claims to be the store manager. On my previous visit, I was greeted by this same salesperson who immediately remarked, “Oh, you have been here many times!?” When I explained that I often stop by while waiting for my children’s swimming lessons next door, he followed up with, “so are you here to buy or just to kill time?” I found this question intrusive and inappropriate. Whether I purchase during a visit or not is a personal matter, and such a comment made me feel unwelcome. For context, I am a repeat customer who has purchased furniture from Ashley in the past. In fact, I recently bought some furniture. Despite feeling uncomfortable, I chose not to escalate the matter that day. Today Saturday, I returned with my wife and my kid to view furniture again. My wife noticed some freebies (lollipop candies & chips) displayed ion the table at the entrance and politely asked the same salesperson if those were available to customers. His response was, “Yes, if you came to the store to purchase.” My wife was taken aback by this remark, which came across as rude and dismissive. Standing beside her, I also found his tone disrespectful. At that point, I confronted him and reminded him of the uncomfortable comments he had made to me the week before. Another salesperson, Heba, joined the conversation and explained that it is customary to greet customers. While I agree that greetings are normal, the comments made by this manager went well beyond a polite welcome — they were sarcastic and unprofessional. I want to emphasize that as a loyal customer who has made prior purchases at Ashley Homestore, I expect to be treated with respect and courtesy. Being questioned about whether I am buying “or just killing time” and being told that free candies are only for purchasing customers creates an unwelcoming and hostile environment. This behavior is not acceptable from any employee, let alone someone who claims to be a manager. I am requesting that Ashley Homestore address this matter seriously and take appropriate action to ensure that other customers do not have similar negative experiences. Shopping for furniture should be a pleasant experience, not one where customers feel belittled or unwelcome.

The team at the Burlington store are excellent and always welcoming and friendly. Heba has always gone out of her way to deliver customer service excellence. She does it so naturally, it's just in her nature. The other sales professionals are all helpful to each other and interact so organically with other customers and team members and their customers. Nothing feels forced. They are a great team and the store is such a nice atmosphere to be in. They always go above and beyond.
